Historic Honolulu Home Overlooking 50-Foot Waterfall Offered at Auction with No Reserve

Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers and Concierge Auctions are offering one of the rarest properties ever to come to market on Oahu: Luakaha Mauka Estate. Set to the back of Honolulu’s lush Nu’uanu Valley in an area enjoyed by Hawaiian ali’i as a respite from the heat of the lowlands, the offering consists of three contiguous parcels of land, which can be bought together or separately.

Altogether, the property totals approximately 2.3+ acres of land, a marvelously well preserved and lovingly cared for Hawaiian mountain bungalow style with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, dark stained wood floors, whitewashed board and batten walls, mullioned windows, a lava rock fireplace, and the rarest of all — a view and access to a 50 foot cascading waterfall. The auction takes place on September 25th-28th, 2018. The two lots and home to be offered both as a package and individually.

Luakaha Mauka Estate | 4155 Nu’uanu Pali Drive, Honolulu | Auction | 2.32 Acres | 4BR/4BA | 3,325 SF | MLS 201822221

This home is unique in so many ways: its history in an area favored by the Hawaiian ali’i, the lovely waterfall views and lush tropical surroundings, but perhaps more than that as a much-loved family home, one that has served the present owners through five generations. They are now ready to pass on this legacy to someone looking to care for the land, as they have this last 100+ years.

This spacious home has elegantly sized rooms and a front lanai that can accommodate large gatherings comfortably. It is a bungalow on a grand scale. Indoor/outdoor Hawaii living at its best with cool mountain breezes in the summer and gorgeous tropical blossoms, providing delightful scents and birdsong all year round. So graceful and quiet yet just minutes from all the exciting urban happenings in Honolulu.

Lava rock paths meander through rare trees and plants placed throughout the property. For example, as pictured below, a mountain apple tree whose spectacularly vivid magenta blossoms not only line the tree limbs, but also carpet the ground beneath in an almost impressionistic way. Some of the trees are so unusual as to be unidentifiable at this time, possibly a treasure transported from another exotic locale by some sea captain in the past. There are several wonderful homesites nestled here, affording each home privacy and views.

“Welcome home to your private sanctuary on Nuuanu Pali Drive – the perfect place for anyone looking for peace and solitude while still being able to access Oahu’s culture and dynamic energy. The soothing climate, rare botany, 50-foot Luakaha Falls, and spiritual power of the place come together to create a retreat fit for a king. This lush valley seamlessly combines history, a tropical feel completely unique to the Hawaiian Islands and simple luxury so needed in today’s world.”

I was surprised to get this listing, I am not sure how you knew about me. I teach personal alchemy and so I found it very interesting that you sent it to me on a “55” day. The Vibration of Heaven on Earth, the most sacred of all vibrations at this time. I always look for meaning in the way things happen or birth into your life.

So I am talking to an investor of mine about the possibility. The timing is not the best, we leave on Oct. 1st to teach workshops in Maui for a month. But being an Alchemist, I do believe anything is possible. Do you have the layout of the house and the land, and it’s elevation? From the few pictures it does look like the land may be very steep. I looked it up on google earth so I have explored it’s location as best I can.

Mahalo for any help you can give.

> Aloha Lilyana, Ive emailed you more info including a lovely video featuring a member of the family thats cared for this property for over a 100 years. Most of the property is level with multiple good building sites. There is a slope leading down to the stream and waterfall with an easy path down. Warm aloha, Erik
