Hawaii Real Estate Photos vs. Reality – Watch This Before You Buy!
I hate seeing this happen—buyers fall in love with a property online, they’re 100% sold… until they walk in the door.
The photos? 
Yeah, they lied.
The listing agent’s job is to make the property shine as much as possible—after all, this is going to be someone’s dream home. 
Listings are designed to sell, and photos can make a home look bigger, brighter, and more perfect than reality.
Wide-angle lenses stretch rooms, perfect lighting hides flaws, and carefully chosen angles conveniently leave out less desirable features.
One couple I worked with learned this the hard way. The wife had already mentally moved in before even seeing the house in person. She halfheartedly picked a couple of backup options for showings, but in her mind, this was the one.
After flying out to see it, reality hit before we even got to the front door. The photos didn’t show just how close the neighbors were, or that the house completely maxed out the lot—no yard, no breathing room, no charm.
The vibe was already off before we stepped inside. And once we did? It got worse. 
The camera angles online had done some serious magic because the layout felt nothing like what they expected. The disappointment was real.
But here’s the twist—months later, they ended up buying a lot instead and are now building their dream home. Sometimes, a property search takes a completely unexpected turn, and that’s okay.
So, how do you avoid this? 
Don’t rely on photos alone and get with an agent who can provide you some back up options.
Virtual tours, FaceTime walkthroughs, or—better yet—getting here in person when possible makes all the difference.
