Hawaii Life Supports Habitat for Humanity’s Big Island Efforts
Building 10 Homes In 10 Days – Habitat For Humanity’s Blitz Build
High on the priority list for many Hawaii residents is giving back to our community. We all want to help make our community, where we live and work, a better place for everyone.
One way that Hawaii Life agents have chosen to help is by participating in the 2017 Blitz Build. Thousands of volunteers will be building 10 homes in 10 days. Yes, you read that correctly! This incredible and challenging endeavor will involve countless of volunteers, and will provide ten West Hawaii families with safe, new and affordable homes in the Kailua-Kona neighborhood of La’i ‘Opua.
Organized by the dedicated team at Habitat for Humanity – West Hawaii, who are celebrating their 15th year as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity this year, this event is a partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Homelands. The 2017 Blitz Build runs from September 13 to 23.
Do We Build 10 Homes In 10 Days?
How do we do it? Well, we start with the slab or foundation. The slabs for most of the homes have already been poured prior to the event. On day one of the 2017 Blitz Build, volunteers will begin erecting the framing on top of the poured foundations. Ten days, thousands of hands, and maybe a few sunburns later, we will end up with ten new homes.
The foundation for the Kyle Ohana is poured and ready to go!
