I’ve been sharing a series of blogs on loving where you live. Why? Because when you love where you live, you will be happier, healthier, more engaged, and have a greater sense of purpose and belonging in the world.
I love living in the beautiful community of Hawaii Kai and it’s impossible for me to name all of the reasons why. It’s also hard to rank them in order because when it comes to your happiness, rankings are pretty meaningless. What makes your life better is too personal to be measured. So, while my numbering is random, my reasons for loving where I live are not. They are meaningful. Very meaningful.
Last week I shared about one of my favorite spots – Koko Crater Botanical Gardens. It’s a great place to walk and to get close to nature. You’ll love taking a brisk hike on the almost 2 mile loop while viewing cacti, aloes, dry land palms, plumeria, and bougainvillea. There’s just something about the crater and the gardens that refresh and soothe your soul.
Of course, there are times when another type of soothing is needed, so let me share with you another reason why I love where I live! The restaurants! You’ll find plenty of good eateries in Hawaii Kai, but today I’ll just mention a couple that are located on the marina in the Koko Marina Center – Assagio and Kona Brewery.
I love the sights and sounds of the marina, not to mention the gorgeous mountain views. It’s double the pleasure when you get to eat a great meal while feasting on the surrounding natural beauty.
Both Assagio and Kona Brewery are great spots for enjoying a light lunch or tasty dinner. Or, you can just pop in for a cold brew or cool beverage. If you are looking for a casual, trendy vibe with a relaxed atmosphere, Kona’s the place.
But, if you have a more refined palate and want something a bit more upscale, check out Assagio. It’s cozy and unpretentious, but the food is on par with many of the best fine dining spots on Oahu. It’s a great spot for enjoying some downtime with friends or family. And, oh what a view!
The marina, the shops, and the great restaurants all combine to make Hawaii Kai a vibrant, fun, and engaging place to live, work and play. Today, you got a taste for just two of the many places and reasons I love where I live, but stay tuned as there is more to follow. A lot more.
