With only a total of 34 lots, and several of those in single ownership as privacy buffers, the gated oceanfront community of Puakea Bay Ranch in Hawi, North Kohala does not always have a residence for sale.
In the past twelve months, two lots have sold and no homes were offered for sale until two weeks ago. I just toured the recently listed home, eager to see the remodel the current owners completed. Here are some observations on the two properties currently available for sale at Puakea Bay Ranch.

As I mentioned, the new listing at Puakea Bay Ranch is newly renovated, but a well established home in the community. The agents attending the open house event shared stories with the listing agents. One broker recalled pasturing horses in an adjacent lot, and how those horses would go to the fenceline to listen to the owner at that time playing classical music on a grand piano. I was able to explain the origins of the labyrinth and greenhouse.

The property has a serene quality, enhanced by careful landscaping, sculpture, and even a labyrinth with a bench at its center to contemplate the ocean views.
Interested in agriculture? Besides the greenhouse, there is plenty of room for horses on the far end of the property next to the equestrian trails.

If you have a different home in mind for your new Hawaiʻi residence, Lot 4 at Puakea Bay Ranch is one of the few remaining vacant parcels. I had this property listed years ago and have walked it many times. The third of the lot closest to the road has a prepared building site that is flat, close for utilities, and has the best Maui and coastline views. This lot, like many, has an identified archeological site, as the area is rich in Hawaiian history. Explore its stone walls in the middle third of your lot, and leave the far third for grazing and privacy.
