It’s Fall in Maui, which means it’s the season for going up to the Kula pumpkin patch with your keiki and sipping apple cider. The Maui Fair is in town, the farmers market has fresh Maui grown apples and squash, and that crisp smell is in the air.
The big difference between our Fall and the mainland’s Fall: temperature.
Where some states, like Iowa, plummet from over 100-degree heat to 40-degree chills, our temperature changes from a comfortable 86 to a balmy 75. The leaves in Kula still change, and it still drops into the 60s at night, so that you can sleep with ease — but there is no need to crank the heat and pull out your giant winter jackets.
The best part is that if you don’t want seasons you can live in Kihei or Lahaina. There is truly somewhere for everyone and all within a half-hour drive! If you want that feeling of crisp, fresh Fall, you can move to Kula. If you want the peace and quiet of jungle living with nightly tropical showers, you can buy in Haiku.
