Although I have written recently about homes and land for sale in horse-friendly Hawaii Island communities like Waikii Ranch, Kohala Ranch, and Puakea Bay Ranch, it has been a year since I wrote specifically about Big Island horse properties for sale. Many of the available listings have sold or gone into escrow in the past few months, but there are a handful great options out there.
Horse Properties Within Equestrian Gated Communities
Both of the homes for sale at Waikii Ranch are in escrow, as is the only residential listing at Puakea Bay Ranch. There are wonderful vacant land listings in both those communities if building is an option for you.
Otherwise, there is one actively listed property that is already set up for your horse at Kohala Ranch, if you want to be within a community with equestrian easements. The home itself has 5-bedrooms including separate spaces for a caretaker or in-law and shows better in person than the photos capture.
Hawi – North Kohala Properties with Horse Facilities
A new listing of a farm home on 20 acres above Hawi town has a small horse barn as well as sheep, fruit trees, a pineapple patch, and bearing macadamia nut trees.
I have posted before about my horse ranch listing that has exclusive rights to access a preserved strip of oceanfront. The 43 acres adjacent to it have just been listed…which means someone could snap up a total of 70 dazzling acres in historic Niulii with a couple of smaller homes, room to build, and a full equestrian set up including barn, arena, and round pen.
Farm and Horse Ranch Property in Upcountry Waimea (Kamuela)
Mana Road in Waimea is known to fans of the farmers’ markets for its vegetable farms that sell at the markets in town on Saturdays. A newly released listing on 21.5 acres currently operates as a profit-making farm, and also has a main residence, farmworker housing, and a three-stall barn with tack room.
More Affordable Big Island Horse Properties
The listings featured above range in price from $1,195,000 to over $4 million. There are a few homes on acreage with fenced pastures on the Hamakua Coast listed for $700-800,000.
