One of Hawaii Island’s most beloved annual benefit events, The Big Island Chocolate Festival, is set for Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29, at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel – be sure to mark your calendar, this ultra-popular event sells out fast!
The ever-popular Hawaiian Chocolate Fountain featured at the Saturday night gala!
Presented by the Kona Cacao Association, Inc., this spectacular two-day event features some of the island’s top pastry and savory chefs, along with some of the nation’s most lauded guest chefs. Featuring only Hawaii-grown cacao, the event raises awareness and interest in the growing chocolate industry here. In fact, Hawaii is the only state in the union cultivating chocolate as a commercial crop.
Highlights include: cooking demonstrations, taste-off competitions between local restaurant chefs, a student chef competition, gala evening event, and silent auction.
Proceeds benefit four Hawaii Island organizations: the American Culinary Federation, Kona Kohala Chefs Association, Kona Dance & Performing Arts, Kona Pacific Charter Schools, and the Waimea Country School’s Na Keiki Aloha ‘Aina.
Hands-on cooking demonstrations are part of the fun!
Adding to this year’s excitement, internationally renowned chocolatier, pastry chef, and owner of The Pastry School, Stephane Treand, will take part in the festival in a variety of different roles – host, judge, and creator of an “artistic chocolate showpiece” to be unveiled at the evening gala on Saturday.
Body painting with chocolate is also on-offer!
More than 800 guests are expected to experience the various events over the two days of education, fun, and mouth-watering food treats! Participants may choose an inclusive “I Love Chocolate All Day Pass,” or for those interested in the three Saturday cooking demonstration, there is also a package price for those events.
