At Almost 50, Am I Too Old to Be a Swiftie?

After taking my wife and two teenage daughters to a Taylor Swift concert a couple of years ago, I didn’t think we’d ever make it to the Eras tour.

We tried to get tickets throughout the mainland to no avail. We wish Taylor would come to Hawaii, but unfortunately, Hawaii doesn’t have a big enough stadium to host her.

Last summer, I started looking at European tour dates. We put in for tickets in three different cities, and bingo, we hit the jackpot! We managed to score some floor seats in Amsterdam. While my wife and I had visited Amsterdam before, our teenage daughters hadn’t, so we decided to make a trip of it. Coming from Maui, it’s a long journey, so we made the most of it by stopping in a few other European cities along the way.

Our stops included Spain, Italy, Holland and France. Paris was particularly special because we got to see the preparations for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Now, back to the Taylor Swift concert. She put on an amazing show! We were fortunate to be in a stadium with a roof because, as usual, it was raining in Holland. Here is a little clip.

Before you ask, yes, I did trade some friendship bracelets with other dads.

You might be wondering what Taylor Swift has to do with Maui real estate. While there isn’t a direct connection, it’s interesting to note Taylor’s impressive real estate portfolio. Taylor owns homes all over the US and the UK.

According to MagicBicks.com, Taylor Swift owns a reported eight homes:

2009: Purchased her Nashville penthouse for $1.99 million.
2011: Bought a cottage in Beverly Hills for $3.55 million.
2012: Acquired a single-story mid-century style bungalow in Beverly Hills for $1.78 million, later selling it for $2.65 million.
2013: Bought a Rhode Island mansion for $17.75 million.
2014: Purchased two penthouses in the Tribeca building in New York City for $20 million.
2015: Acquired a 10,982 square-foot home in Beverly Hills for $25 million.
2017: Bought a Tribeca townhouse next to her penthouses for $18 million.
2018: Purchased another apartment in the Tribeca building for $9.75 million.
2021: Bought a townhouse in London’s Primrose Hill neighborhood for $8.3 million.

Who knows, maybe Taylor might even be interested in a remote property in Hana. Say, this one: 5670 Hana Hwy, Hana HI

So, am I too old to be a Swiftie at almost 50? Absolutely not! Taylor Swift’s music and concerts are for everyone, regardless of age. If anything, this experience has brought our family even closer together and given us memories we’ll cherish forever.
