Puamana is a gated ocean-front community in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, comprised of 230 individual condos in 60 low-density buildings, grouped around our heritage clubhouse with lots of open area. General Info
The Puamana condo complex was developed in 1968, but many of the homes have been updated and remodeled and some fully rebuilt from the dirt up (such as 111-2). Homeowner’s fees are relatively low for a complex with so much to offer – monthly fees are around $1,400 and include care-free living: security, water, trash, a front desk, clubhouse, and 30 acres of gorgeous grounds. Over the past year, condo sales in Puamana ranged from $1,100,000 for a 1-bedroom garden view up to $4,875,000 for a 2-story, 4 bedroom oceanfront property.

The Heritage Clubhouse
The clubhouse was built in 1919 as the home for the Lunas of the Sugar Cane fields (Luna means the Boss in Hawaiian). The clubhouse is rich in traditions and housed many prominent Maui families. Now the clubhouse is alive with new traditions such as evening cocktails and talk-story, a gym, library, a bar with a big-screen TV and homeowners’ events such as Christmas House in November and my favorite: a super fun and safe New Year’s Eve party that ends at 9pm!
Oceanfront!
One of the main draws to Puamana is that the 30 acres is all oceanfront — some parts with sandy beach, and other parts rocky, with multiple surf breaks. There are spots for kids to play in the sand and shore-break, spots to learn how to surf near to the Park and an advanced short-board spot by the ocean pool.
The ocean, shore break and waves provide endless fun… Rainbow floaty anyone?
If the waves are too big, there is a choice of three swimming pools, one directly oceanfront…

Location
Puamana is bike-able to Lahaina – so many excellent restaurants in Lahaina Town and fun activities in the area.
Lahaina was once home to the Royalty and Whalers and is one of the richest cultural lands in the Hawaiian Islands.
The Kamehameha lineage ruled the Hawaiian kingdom from a sacred area called Moku’ula, behind 505 Front Street. They lived on a sandbar island surrounded by a fishpond fed by underwater springs coming down from underground lava tubes from Kaua’ula Valley which is the valley above Puamana.
It is clear why royalty chose this temperate spot for their capital: it’s da kine! The weather here is almost always sunny, in the 80s with the ocean a few degrees cooler, with light trade winds to cool off the beach. The sunsets out front create a colorful evening show before the cool nights.
Whalers also dreamed of coming ashore to Lahaina for many of the same reasons — the delicious array of fresh foods, the strong rum drinks, and the beautiful local women. They probably also enjoyed a refreshing swim and a bath after so many months at sea…
Before You Come to Maui…
Think about how we can make better choices: please buy local products and protect our Aina! Cut down the amount of plastic you buy! The tap water is fine to drink — it comes from the water table underground via the rainforest in the mountains right above Lahaina. Most condos will have a water filter on the refrigerator or one of those filtered water pitchers and re-usable water bottles at your disposal. Please be aware and don’t buy packs of bottled plastic water and Gatorade at Costco… Contrary to what everyone wants you to believe, Maui does not have a plastic bottle recycling facility so the bottles go straight into our landfill. While you’re listening: let’s avoid plastic trash bags, plastic straws, zip-lock baggies and plastic beach toys. All that stuff is probably already provided for you at the condo. This is our kuleana. One more thought to leave you with: those big plastic noodles they sell at the supermarkets break off in the ocean and the turtles and fish nibble on the chunks. I won’t even mention avoiding the cheap spray sunscreen as now that junk is illegal on our island.
Let’s make better choices…coconut water like these sold in the markets in Hawaii is usually shipped in from Thailand and has zero nutrients. Look for Lahaina bananas and local produce — not the perfect yellow “Dole” bananas — those are shipped in from Costa Rica!
