Iconic Landmark
Located at 65-1480 Kawaihae Road, Anna Ranch Heritage Center is one of Waimea’s special gems. Named after Anna Lindsey Perry-Fiske, a remarkable and accomplished pa’u rider, cowgirl, humanitarian, and community leader. Anna’s ranch house, was built more than 100 years ago at the base of Hoku‘ula – a landmark hill in Waimea.
First Lady of Ranching
Anna Lindsey Perry-Fiske was known as the “First Lady of Ranching” in Hawaii and her family owned the 110-acre ranch for five generations. Born in 1900, she grew up learning to rope, ride, and mend fences. She went on to take over the family ranch after her father passed away. Anna brought new breeds of cattle to the island and implemented groundbreaking ranching practices while managing the ranch. A truly unique and gifted woman, she was also a socialite known for her social gatherings and fundraisers.
Heritage Center
After Anna passed away at the age of 95, the property was turned into a Heritage Center at her request, showcasing the Paniolo heritage of the region and Anna’s family. The spacious and meticulously maintained grounds feature a variety of flowers and trees, and a stream borders the back of the property. It is listed on both the Hawaii State and National Registers of Historic Places.
